Job Description

The purpose of the Strategic Account Manager is to grow the Valvoline business by analyzing, calling on, and servicing the Retail, Commercial and Ecommerce touchpoints across assigned strategic accounts for the Valvoline family of products. This role has direct sales responsibility, supports headquarter strategic planning and execution and develops account roadmaps delivering growth. This position will have extensive knowledge of each channel of trade and will create and execute a Customer Strategic Roadmap, defining critical insights and growth opportunities. Relationship building with the key accounts is critical to the success of this role. This includes customer site visits, and various face to face interactions across North America. This is a leadership role within the defined channel.

Job Responsibility

  • Developing execution plans, calling on, and servicing key strategic accounts for the Valvoline family of products including Private Label Brands
  • Implement retail & wholesale sales strategies to attain growth targets outlined in the Valvoline Strategic Plan
  • Partner with Marketing to develop channel &/or account specific marketing promotions. Lead execution. Partner with Analytics team to evaluate then provide recommendations for future executions
  • Review and evaluate Valvoline's customer supply chain actions to identify and implement most efficient and cost-effective transportation of Valvoline products to direct store locations & distribution centers
  • Utilize dedicated Broker Team for WD to best service and manage market execution and key selling opportunities
  • Work with Valvoline management at the Director level to develop annual account/divisional plans. Review sales, volume/share, and profit on at least a monthly basis to monitor progress and manage P&L to deliver volume, sales and profit objectives
  • Work with Valvoline Customer Service and customer's Accounts Payable group to insure prompt and accurate payment of all invoices
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree Required (MBA Preferred)
  • Minimum 10+ years of sales, marketing and/or industry experience
  • Relevant industry/consumer goods / retail / promotions experience
  • Demonstrated experience delivering sales growth and meeting planned goals
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to think critically and creatively while positioning Valvoline to win in the retail/commercial marketplace
  • High levels of organization and planning are required as well as a willingness to build better, lasting relationships with the customers
  • Candidate should have experience in understanding financial statements and understanding profit drivers and product/portfolio optimization
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage projects and objectives independently
  • Responsiveness and a high attention to detail
  • Familiarity with business growth levers including revenue, volume, share, opportunity cost and return on investment calculations
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
