Job Description:

The city is seeking a Stormwater Engineer to lead its Stormwater Compliance Program while supporting water, wastewater, and infrastructure initiatives. This role oversees MS4 permit compliance, stormwater policy development, and daily program operations, including inspections, enforcement, and public outreach. This is an opportunity to play a key role in protecting environmental quality and advancing critical public works initiatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the Stormwater Compliance Program
  • Support water, wastewater, and infrastructure initiatives
  • Oversee MS4 permit compliance, stormwater policy development, and daily program operations including inspections, enforcement, and public outreach
  • Manage stormwater regulations
  • Review engineering plans
  • Coordinate capital improvement projects
  • Ensure compliance with environmental standards
  • Provide technical expertise in system design, hydraulic modeling, and infrastructure planning
  • Work closely with city departments, contractors, and regulatory agencies
  • Manage multiple projects
  • Prepare reports and budgets
  • Support long-term infrastructure and sustainability goals

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering
  • Five-plus years of relevant experience
  • Experience in stormwater compliance, project management, and municipal systems preferred
  • EIT or PE licensure in Massachusetts is a plus
