Job Description:

At Avantor, we are looking for a Stores & Logistics Technician for our customer site, UCB, based in Slough. In this role, you will support all logistics activities, and also provide some support in the laboratory. This role is multi-disciplinary and underpins the laboratory support operations and warehouse operations. This role, directly and indirectly, supports scientists across the UCB discovery biology department allowing scientists to concentrate on their core role.

Job Responsibility:

  • Communicate with the lab management teams regularly to understand what support they need in the lab and stores operations
  • Receive and process ad hoc deliveries ensuring storage at correct temperatures
  • Receive and process stock deliveries, ensuring storage in the correct locations
  • Support the shipping of finished goods out to the end user, ensuring that the correct shipping documentation is included with consignments to ad-hoc countries
  • Monitoring stock consumption metrics, then ordering and replenishing stock base on demand using a SAP-based system, ensuring focus on new product lines
  • Assist customers through the provision of a counter service
  • To protect the integrity of research activities, regularly check chemical and reagent expiry dates and arrange disposal of any out-of-date material via the correct waste disposal route
  • Collection waste solvents

Requirements:

  • Experience working in a warehousing or stores environment or hospitality
  • Demonstrable experience with stock/materials handling activities
  • Ability to be flexible and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks on a regular basis
  • Proven excellent customer service focus and ability to work collaboratively
  • Clear and concise written and spoken communication skills
  • Able to collaborate with other teams and suppliers and deliver results
  • Self-motivated, energetic, dependable and clear attention to detail
  • Proficient in various IT systems particularly Microsoft Excel and SAP or similar stock management system experience (desirable)
