The Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs is seeking to hire a Storekeeper I at the Manteno Veterans’ Home. This position is responsible for supporting inventory control, storekeeping operations, and the maintenance of accurate records related to supplies and materials used throughout the facility. Job Responsibility
Processes a variety of general, industrial, mechanical, or office supply items
Assembles, packs, transports, or arranges for transporting of requisitioned goods or materials to facility staff
Estimates stock needs and notifies Storekeeper III of stock replacement as required
Oversees General Store operations in the absence of the Storekeeper III
Maintains a clean and efficient environment within the General Stores area
Inspect received shipments for damages, expiration dates, accurate items, and quantity
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably with the scope of the duties enumerated above
Requirements
Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years high school
Requires one (1) year experience in the keeping of stores and stores records
Requires ability to pass a background check
Requires ability to pass a drug screen and pre-employment physical
Requires ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance
Requires ability acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate
Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers
Requires ability to attend seminars, conferences, and trainings to stay current on methods, tools, ideologies, or other industry related topics relevant to the job duties
Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid drivers license
Heavy work involves lifting no more than 100 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 pounds
Requires ability to pass required background check and drug screen/pre-employment physical
Requires ability to obtain and maintain required certification
Requires ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers

Ability to plan, organize, and supervise the activities of the property control personnel
Ability to interpret and evaluate property assets, their depreciation, and condemnation
