Whitehall Resources currently require an experience Storage SME to work with a key client. *Please notice this role requires 3 days onsite in either London, Birmingham or Sheffield and falls INSIDE IR35*

Job Responsibility:

  • Carry out tasks to certify, test and develop new features and platforms on our SAN Infrastructure, primarily Dell PowerMax/Vmax-3/XtremIO, Pure FlashArray, HP Primera/Alletra and Cirrus DMS using Broadcom and Cisco SAN switches/directors and iSCSI connectivity
  • Develop automation to support the above requirements, covering support, install, provisioning, migration management/compliance
  • Provide Enterprise Services, including platform services (UNIX and Linux servers, Windows and storage) for securely storing/analysing data as well as Developer Services which enable faster delivery of highly standardised platform services, for example, Virtualisation, ALM, Dev Engineering, Development and Cloud
  • Develop Cloud based infrastructure platforms and deliver infrastructure, platform etc. “as a Service” by working with Business & other DevOps teams
  • Determine the strategic direction and execute in each of the Technology areas under Enterprise Services responsibility
  • Risk and Cost Management
  • Ensure Service Quality Targets are met for offered platform services
  • Business stakeholder management to define product roadmaps and market available capabilities
  • Write development code, understand a DevOps Continuous Integration / Continuous Delivery pipeline, and build automated test scripts (for infrastructure products and upgrades), and build automation interfaces between systems

Requirements:

  • Expertise in Server operating systems – Linux RHEL/Windows/VmWare
  • Expert in all aspects of Dell PowerMax/Vmax3/SRDF/XtremIO, Pure FlashArray, HPE Primera, Cirrus DMS
  • End to end server mapping from server to storage
  • Experience in using Python, Ansible, and Shell Scripting languages to implement storage automation and as-a-service offerings
  • Capable of product testing and qualification
  • Well experienced in server and storage remediation
  • Past working experience in a storage / scripting / automation role
  • A deep technical understanding of Cloud and Storage Infrastructure
  • Infrastructure as Code and automation/orchestration technologies, such as Puppet / Chef / Ansible Tower / Jenkins
  • Experience of continuous integration / continuous delivery software engineering approaches
  • Experienced in storage migration – Storage and server based
  • A track record of constantly looking for ways to do things better and an excellent understanding of the mechanism necessary to successfully implement change
  • Self-awareness with confidence to work independently and take responsibility for own development
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills
  • an ability to communicate with impact, ensuring complex information is articulated in a meaningful way to wide and varied audiences
  • Planned projects and activities systematically in line with business priorities, using a variety of analysis and problem solving techniques

  • Willingness to undertake the training / study required in this role for new products and service
