Job Description:

The Sterilization Operator 1 role involves operating various material handling equipment, assisting in product sterilization, and supporting the Sterilizer Supervisor and Sterilization Operators. This position requires working twelve-hour shifts, including weekends, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality regulations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Operate electric forklifts, stretch wrappers, manual pallet jacks, and slip sheeter attachments
  • Rotate materials according to FIFO for incoming and outgoing material
  • Load and unload trucks and prepare products for sterilization
  • Assist in company physical inventories and cycle counts
  • Prepare pallets and verify quantities, part numbers, and lot numbers for incoming and outgoing products
  • Assist with paperwork and sporting for product sterilization
  • Safely operate various equipment and tools under prescribed regulations
  • Assist in equipment repair and troubleshooting as instructed by maintenance
  • Respond to ethylene oxide emergencies if they occur
  • Maintain a neat and orderly work area and comply with safety and quality regulations
  • Perform other assigned duties as required

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent GED
  • Minimum of two years of experience at BD or one year of comparable outside warehouse experience
  • Prior experience with forklifts and material handling equipment
  • Good work and attendance record
  • Good communication, math, and computer skills
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely
  • Mechanical inclination for equipment repair and troubleshooting
  • Compliance with safety and quality regulations
