Job Description

Sterile Services Technician (Bank) at Bishops Wood Hospital in Middlesex, part of Circle Health Group. Bank role working on an 'as and when required' basis. Provides a first-class decontamination sterile service to the Operating Theatres and clinical departments.

Job Responsibility

  • Provide a first-class decontamination sterile service to the Operating Theatres, clinical departments and relevant paramedical departments
  • Assist in the provision of decontamination, checking, assembly, packing, sterilisation and delivery of medical and surgical equipment and sundry items to/for the customer
  • Maintain good working relationships with all customers
  • Promote and maintain Health & Safety within the department
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained to the required standard of safety, reporting any faults to Team leader/Manager
  • Assist the Team Leaders in liaising with departments to ensure supply of items is maintained
  • Maintain the accepted Health & Safety requirements for the protection of staff and visitors
  • Comply with all relevant mandatory training

  • Prepare individual pharmaceutical compounds according to schedule and prescribed medication as well as GMP requirements, with the aim of providing the patient with the correct medication
  • Check prescriptions and compound preparations (personal details, dosing, validity date, etc.) and label and send the medication out, with the aim of ensuring that the patient is provided with the correct medication
  • According to defined guidelines, clean the equipment and the workplace as well as monitor possible residual materials with the aim of working in a neat and clean environment which adheres to the quality guidelines so as to prevent accidents and incidents
  • Show respect for the quality, neatness and safety guidelines when carrying out production orders with the aim of preventing accidents and other unwanted incidents
  • Clock in and out for every scheduled shift in a timely manner
