High School Graduate General Studies and Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a sterile processing technician, upon hire
High School GED General Studies and Minimum 1 year experience as a Sterile Processing Tech II, upon hire
Certified and Registered Central Service Technician, upon hire
Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Supervisor, upon hire
Certified Sterile Processing and Dist Tech, upon hire
Cert Sterile Processing Dist Tech, upon hire

Job Responsibility

Perform decontamination, prep and pack, sterilization, and dispatch
Expand knowledge of standards and procedures for surgical instrumentation
Provide quality customer service
Perform duties in a safe manner
Contribute to maintaining supplies and sterile items
Process Code Carts
Contribute to the efficient operation of the department
Perform cleaning and decontamination duties

Requirements

Minimum of two years experience with surgical instrumentation required
Minimum two years prior sterile processing or surgical tech experience required
Completion of a Sterile Processing Program or surgical tech program required
High School Graduate or equivalent required
Certified and Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Surgical Technologist Certification (CST), thru HSPA (formerly IAHCSMM) is required
Current AHA BLS card required
Fire Card (within 90 days of hire) required
Knowledge of specialty instruments and thorough knowledge of disinfecting and sterilization procedures required

Job Responsibility

Thoroughly clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize medical devices according to established procedures and manufacturer's instructions
Operate and maintain cleaning and sterilization equipment, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to safety protocols
Perform biological testing, monitor autoclave performance, and identify instruments needing repair or sharpening
Maintain supply levels, fill surgical case cart requisitions using our hospital computer system, and report any equipment malfunctions
Collaborate effectively with colleagues, physicians, and supervisory staff
Act as a preceptor and mentor to new team members, sharing your expertise and contributing to their development
Demonstrate a strong understanding of sterilization principles, infection control practices, and universal safety precautions

Minimum two (2) years sterile processing experience preferred
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills and knowledge of instrumentation and medical devices
Must also demonstrate proficiency in computer skills
Prefer working knowledge of hospital equipment and computers
High School diploma as accredited by the US Department of Education or GED required
