Job Responsibility

Ensures availability of sterile endoscopic equipment for surgeries, including retrieval, assembly, and specialized sterilization to meet surgical schedules
Acts as a resource for operating endoscopic and audiovisual equipment
performs inspections, routine maintenance, and troubleshooting
Coordinates equipment readiness for procedures by providing substitutions and responding to technical assistance requests
Manages ordering and restocking of endoscopic supplies based on par levels, including receiving, verifying, and distributing inventory
Oversees proper storage and rotation of supplies, ensuring labeling and packaging meet standards
Maintains detailed records of inventory, purchasing, equipment repairs, and expenses
reconciles budget variances and supports budget planning
Processes billing invoices and payment requisitions while addressing related inquiries and vendor issues
Contributes to evaluation and implementation of new equipment and supplies

Job Responsibility

Collects and decontaminates and cleans reusable equipment and/or supplies and associated storage units in accordance with department, manufacturer, and OSHA standards
Collects, clean/decontaminates, checks, distributes, and tracks patient care equipment
Inspects, disassembles sorts, cleans, and processes reusable instrumentation and equipment
selects and operates specialized cleaning equipment
follows manufacturer recommendations for cleaning guidelines and proper use of cleaning agents
Identifies, inspects, and assembles, all general and specialty instruments, various power equipment, laser and endoscopes instruments per specifications and manufacturer recommendations
Assembles instruments, complex instrument sets, and other surgical items and kits by selecting the appropriate items, trays, instruments, and arrange them in the correct manner permitting effective sterilization using existing standard operating procedures and surgical case count sheets

High school diploma or GED equivalent with four years of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or scrub tech work experience in the Operating Room required
Associate's degree in a related field with two years' of significant hospital work experience in Sterile Processing and/or scrub tech work experience in the Operating Room or graduation from an accredited School of Surgical Technology and credentialed as a Certified Surgical Technologist by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting preferred
Certification from an accredited certifying agency in sterile processing required or must obtained within 12 months of hire

Job Responsibility

Manages flow of materials between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Department
organizes, directs, and implements daily activities regarding surgical instrumentation ordering, presentation, maintenance, and preparation
Reviews the surgery schedule and ensures, together with the Production Supervisor, that all surgical procedures have an accurate case cart
Works closely with OR coordinators to ensure that procedure cards remain accurate
Assesses case flow during the day, monitors instrument needs, and notifies Sterile Processing Department personnel in advance of any possible additional/emergent instrumentation needs
Plans and coordinates all instrument turnarounds
Assists in developing, communicating, implementing, and trouble-shooting instrument issues that may affect or delay surgery start time
Acts as a liaison between the OR and the Sterile Processing Department
interfaces with the OR Coordinators, OR staff and management, and SPD staff and management
Coordinates the development and implementation of standards of performance with team input regarding surgical instrumentation
