Job Description:

CSP Educator position is accountable for coordinating education in Central Service (CS) department to include assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating education and training of the Central Service staff.

Job Responsibility:

  • Coordinate education in Central Service (CS) department
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate education and training of Central Service staff
  • Maintain established departmental policies, procedures, objectives, Quality Assurance program, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Report defective or damaged materials, equipment and supplies to supervisor
  • Coordinate the departmental orientation of new hires
  • Plan, implement and promote the education and training of staff members to ensure professional development
  • Ensure department meets all regulations, standards and guidelines consistent with AORN, AAMI, The Joint Commission, CMS, CDC, OSHA, and FDA requirements as well as hospital policies and procedures
  • Manage and maintain employee compliance folders to ensure certifications, proficiencies, and related documentation are up to date
  • Generate and prepare agenda for Meetings and document meeting minutes
  • Follow all health and safety regulations and requirements
  • Audit quality and performance test documentation for all sterilizers, washers, and high-level disinfecting equipment
  • Use Tracking Software such as Ascendco, SPM, Censitrac, Abacus, T-Dot, etc. to generate various reports and audit compliance records to ensure accuracy

Requirements:

  • Highschool Diploma/GED required
  • Associates Degree in Healthcare or Business related field required
  • Minimum two years experience in Sterile Processing Department required
  • Minimum two years experience in management preferred
  • Three years experience working directly with OR instrumentation and case cart program preferred
  • Must have upon hiring: Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST)
  • Must obtain within 180 days of hiring: Certified Instrument Specialist (CIS)
  • Must obtain within 180 days of hiring: Certified Healthcare Leader (CHL)
  • Must obtain within 180 days of hiring if GI is managed by SPD: Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER)
  • Extensive knowledge in analyzing and interpreting manufacturer’s IFU for surgical instrumentation, endoscopes, and medical equipment
  • Ability to operate semi-automatic to automatic sterilizing equipment
  • mechanical decontamination equipment and other related equipment
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including computer-related requirements

Nice to have:

  • Three years experience working directly with OR instrumentation and case cart program preferred
  • Minimum two years experience in management preferred
