The Sterile Coordinator plays a critical role in the daily operations of the sterile compounding team. This position is responsible for workflow coordination, technician task delegation, oversight of training and development, and ensuring sterile production processes move forward efficiently and in compliance with regulatory and company standards. The Sterile Coordinator serves as a leader, coach, and problem-solver, ensuring both product quality and team performance are consistently upheld.
Job Responsibility:
Assign daily compounding and preparation tasks to technicians based on skill level, training progress, and performance history
Evaluate technician strengths, confidence levels, speed, adaptability, and motivation to ensure efficient task allocation
Ensure technicians are supported and challenged appropriately, offering guidance and coaching
Coordinate onboarding and ongoing training for sterile technicians
Perform regular check-ins to assess training effectiveness
Serve as a mentor by offering feedback, support, and practical tips on garbing and aseptic techniques
Take ownership of outside-the-hood duties including cleaning, operating autoclave and oven, restocking supplies, and managing labeling tasks
Monitor sterile lots in process to track progress and ensure timely completion
Collaborate with QA to address bottlenecks and help prevent or resolve delays
Maintain and optimize sterile workflow scheduling
Communicate regularly with management regarding daily plans, changes, staffing issues, or delays
Requirements:
2+ years of experience in sterile compounding or pharmacy operations
leadership experience preferred
State License
active and in good standing
Strong understanding of aseptic technique, USP <797>, and sterile production workflows
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop team members
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficient in Excel and Google Worksheets
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to navigate and resolve workflow challenges
Proficient with basic scheduling tools and comfortable learning new systems
Nice to have:
Familiarity with compounding of specialty products such as NAD+, MIC injections, and Glutathione
Experience coordinating with QA and cross-functional departments
Background in pharmacy production environments (503A or 503B a plus)
