Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Steel Estimator / Project Manager to join our client’s dynamic team. The ideal candidate will ideally have a strong background in estimating structural steel projects, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with engineers, project managers and clients.

Job Responsibility:

  • Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and documents to prepare accurate estimates for structural steel projects
  • Perform detailed project take-offs and assess labor, material, and overhead costs from both a qualitative and quantitative view
  • Collaborate with engineering and project management teams to ensure comprehensive understanding of project requirements
  • Build, develop and maintain (new and PSE existing) relationships with general contractors and suppliers to obtain competitive pricing
  • Prepare detailed bid proposals for clients with onsite job site visits being needed
  • Analyze project risks and provide recommendations to mitigate potential issues
  • Track and manage bid schedules and deadlines to ensure timely submissions
  • Assist in post-bid reviews and upon project award take lead to coordinate all aspects of the complete the project on time and on budget
  • Manage all aspects of the project, from pre-construction to final billing
  • Hands on coordination with Field crews

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in steel estimating or a related field
  • Proficiency in estimating software and tools (e.g., eTakeoff, Procore, Bluebeam, etc.)
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to structural steel
  • Ability to review and interpret steel drawings and technical specifications
  • Experience with material quantity takeoffs specifically related to structural steel
  • Proficiency with estimating software and tools (e.g., ETakeoff, Excel, Procore, BidWizard)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively
  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge base through technology
  • Positive, winning attitude
  • Local / regional travel required

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in a self-performing construction environment is a plus
  • Knowledge of time and material construction methods is a plus
