A Stationary Engineer Grade 3 is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems and equipment. This position involves routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical systems to ensure the building’s systems are operational and comply with all applicable codes and safety standards.
Job Responsibility:
Repairs air conditioning, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems as required
Monitors running equipment, reads and records log entries, i.e., temperatures, pressures, flows, etc.
Responds to alarms, i.e., fire, smoke received by the Central Plant
Performs basic cleaning duties in the Central Plant
Paints equipment in Central Plant when required
Labels various mechanical equipment by name, function, flow, etc.
Complete any guest maintenance request and Food and Beverage maintenance requests
Requirements:
At least 3 years of experience in operating, maintaining, and repairing mechanical systems such as HVAC, boilers, chillers, and water treatment systems
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and refrigeration is beneficial
Operational knowledge of mechanical systems is required
Experience with high pressure boilers/steam systems and/or chilled water plants preferred
Maryland Stationary Engineer License Grade 3
Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems is a plus
A valid Driver’s License
Knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment, including troubleshooting and repair techniques
Ability to lift and move heavy objects
Ability to work in various environmental conditions, such as high temperatures, confined spaces, and elevated locations
Good physical stamina for performing tasks that involve standing, bending, and working in challenging conditions
Accessible and available in the event of emergencies or when needed to meet the ongoing missions of the Engineering Department
Knowledge and technical skills required for the repair and maintenance of plumbing, heating, electrical systems, fixtures, devices, and applications
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
Ability to work independently and in a team environment
Good oral and written communication skills, ability to follow instructions and express ideas effectively and concisely
Willing to seek training to enhance or learn new skills
Ability to work with skilled and unskilled personnel within the Maintenance Department
High School Diploma
Nice to have:
Certification in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical systems is a plus
Experience with high pressure boilers/steam systems and/or chilled water plants preferred
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical systems, and refrigeration is beneficial
