We’re looking for an enthusiastic Teacher Assistant to join our dynamic team and help bring STEM learning to life. In this role, you’ll support Certified Classroom Instructors and the Outreach & Advanced Coordinator in preparing and delivering engaging, hands-on lessons that spark curiosity and creativity. You’ll also have the opportunity to step into the lead role and teach the approved STARBASE curriculum when needed, making a direct impact in the classroom. Job Responsibility:
Assist Certified Classroom Instructors with classroom supervision and instruction
Step in and teach the approved STARBASE curriculum in the event the Certified Classroom Instructor is absent
Provides support and reinforcement for Certified Classroom Instructors using the approved STARBASE curriculum by planning, preparing materials, setting up classrooms, cleaning up, and providing personalized academic assistance to individuals needing support
Assist the Outreach & Advanced Coordinator with community events and the after-school program as a STEM coach
Other duties as assigned by the Office Manager, Certified Classroom Instructors, the Outreach & Advanced Coordinator, and the Program Director
Requirements:
Associate's Degree (typically in Education)
0-1 year of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction)
OR 2-4 years of progressive work experience (typically in Education or Instruction) as a substitution for education
Must have a valid driver’s license
Must pass a federal background check
Knowledge of teaching, research, presenting, testing, managing behaviors, accommodating diverse learning styles, and other instructional methods
Knowledge of science, technology, engineering, and mathematical concepts
Innovative, creative, positive, and self-driven work habits to work effectively, independently, and cooperatively under minimal supervision
Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments, meet deadlines, and adapt to directives while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and interpersonal skills
This position requires moving around tight spaces within classrooms, throughout military facilities, and over uneven terrain in all weather conditions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position while working with students (approximately 6 hours)
Occasionally lift, carry, move, and dispense objects up to 35 pounds
Nice to have:
Experience implementing STEM Instruction
Skills using Google applications, uploading photos from Apple to PC products, creating Slide Decks, and toggling between multiple web-based applications
