As a Staff Software Engineer on the OneSource team, you will architect and build scalable, enterprise-grade solutions using Java, Spring Boot, React, and agentic technologies leveraging LLMs and MCPs, while integrating with Walmart’s core tech platforms. You’ll be at the forefront of realizing OneSource’s vision to serve as the backbone of Walmart’s sourcing and product development transformation—delivering a seamless, unified platform experience, deep data integration, and intelligent automation that reduces manual effort and errors, scales globally, and powers agentic sourcing and product development across all markets.
Job Responsibility
Design and own the technical architecture ensuring the system scales with business complexity and evolve the MCP server's technical foundation—connection management, async patterns, service boundaries—ensuring the system scales reliably under load
Build robust APIs and integrations that enable seamless data flow across systems
Set engineering standards through code reviews, mentorship, and hands-on ownership of critical components while driving best practices across the team
Build and optimize intelligent agents using DSPy/LLM frameworks, ensuring they are observable, cost-effective, and deliver consistent quality through evaluation pipelines
Ensure the system performs efficiently at scale through proactive optimization
Own the operational excellence of the system—deployment, configuration, monitoring, security—ensuring production reliability and performance
Bridge technical and business stakeholders, coordinate dependencies with external teams, and drive delivery while balancing velocity with sustainability
Requirements
Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
Option 2: 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area
10+ years of experience in the design and development of highly scalable distributed applications and platforms
Deep expertise in Python, Java, Spring Boot, React, PostgreSQL / Azure SQL and modern agentic technologies (LLMs, MCPs)
Proven ability to design and deliver scalable, enterprise-grade solutions integrating with Walmart’s core tech platforms
Strong problem-solving and automation mindset, with a focus on reducing manual effort and driving intelligent workflow transformation
Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work across global teams and partner platforms
Experience leading technical initiatives that drive platform unification, data integration, operational excellence, engineering excellence, alerting and monitoring / tracing
Nice to have
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
Background in creating inclusive digital experiences
Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards
Knowledge of assistive technologies
Knowledge of integrating digital accessibility seamlessly
