Job Description

A well‑established nonprofit organization with approximately 100 employees is seeking a Staff/Senior Accountant to support its Finance & Accounting team during a period of transition and increased operational demand. The ideal candidate will bring strong nonprofit accounting experience, exceptional reconciliation skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal oversight. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance & Accounting, Anita, and will play a key role in stabilizing the team’s workload and ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.

Job Responsibility

  • Process payroll for approximately 100 employees (Paycom)
  • Oversee components of the monthly close, including benefits and salary reconciliations
  • Ensure revenue accounts are accurately recorded and properly coded
  • Support the AP function, including managing 150+ checks per month
  • Perform heavy reconciliations, including: Bank reconciliations
  • Benefit reconciliations
  • Payroll reconciliations
  • Revenue reconciliations
  • Manage AP & AR functions and record receivables
  • Prepare and post adjusting journal entries
  • Work independently in an environment with minimal SOPs, must be comfortable self‑learning
  • Partner with the Director of Finance & Accounting to address backlog items caused by recent operational disruptions
  • Apply a strong understanding of debits vs. credits, balance sheet vs. P&L, and nonprofit accounting principles

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • Previous nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
  • Strong reconciliation experience with clear attention to detail
  • Solid understanding of foundational accounting principles
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fast‑paced environment
  • High degree of accuracy, organization, and problem‑solving skills

Nice to have

  • Abila MIP (preferred, not required)
  • Paycom payroll experience (preferred)
  • Blackbaud Financial Edge experience is a plus
