Job Description:

An EKU Staff Psychologist assists in the mission of the Counseling Center by promoting personal, social, and career development of EKU students. A Staff Psychologist provides the full range of counseling center services: individual and group counseling, assessment, career counseling, outreach, education/training of the university community on early detection of distressed students and how to refer, crisis intervention, consultation, referral, supervision, and outcome research. Providing the standard of care services and adhering to professional standards is highly emphasized, including the maintenance of appropriate clinical documentation according to established protocol. Utilizes relevant assessment/diagnostic tools for identification of needs of client. Rotates coverage of after-hours on-call phone. Other duties as assigned by the Director.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provides psychotherapy to the university's students in both individual and group session
  • Oversees and reviews the clinical work of professional and professionals in training
  • Pursues Professional Development and Continuing Education
  • Develops and provides outreach programming on mental health issues to the university community
  • Consults with university and local community on psychological issues as related to university students
  • Gathers data and develop research and evaluation tools to ensure continued improvement of provided services
  • Provides Crisis Management
  • Support the office functions by completing all other duties and special projects as assigned

Requirements:

  • Doctorate from an APA accredited program in clinical or counseling psychology
  • APA accredited internship is required and must be successfully completed by the time of employment
  • Minimum of 1 year of related counseling experience is required, preferably in a University Counseling Center (doctoral internship can count as experience)
  • Must have experience and training in time-limited modalities, knowledge of the psychological and developmental needs of college population
  • Must possess skills and experience with individual and group counseling, outreach programming, the use of standard diagnostic assessment tools and supervision
  • Must be licensed or license-eligible in the state of Kentucky by the time of employment
  • Must be fully licensed within the first 18 months of employment
  • Individual will be responsible to maintain license after attainment
