Job Description:

At Docker, we make app development easier so developers can focus on what matters. Our remote-first team spans the globe, united by a passion for innovation and great developer experiences. With over 20 million monthly users and 20 billion image pulls, Docker is the #1 tool for building, sharing, and running apps—trusted by startups and Fortune 100s alike. We’re growing fast and just getting started. Come join us for a whale of a ride! This is a remote position open to candidates located on the West Coast, with a preference for those based in the Seattle, WA area. We also offer an optional office space in Seattle for anyone who prefers an on-site or hybrid work environment. Docker is seeking a Staff Product Manager to drive platform strategy across our foundational systems including Billing, Identity & Accounts, Data, and Infrastructure. As Docker continues to scale with millions of users and thousands of enterprise customers, we need a strategic product leader who can ensure our platform capabilities enable product teams across the organization to ship enterprise-grade products quickly and efficiently. This role combines deep technical product expertise with strategic vision to define and execute Docker's platform roadmap. You'll be responsible for platform strategy that enables rapid product development, scalable operations, and seamless customer experiences across billing systems, identity management, data infrastructure, and core platform services. You'll work closely with product teams, Engineering, Marketing, Sales, and Executive leadership to establish platform capabilities that accelerate time-to-market while maintaining enterprise-grade reliability and security. Success in this role requires becoming a subject matter expert across multiple platform domains, understanding how platform decisions impact product velocity and customer experience, and the ability to consult and advise product teams throughout the organization. You'll drive product decisions that directly enable Docker's product portfolio to scale efficiently while establishing best practices for platform-dependent product development.

Job Responsibility:

  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align platform strategy with business growth objectives and product portfolio expansion
  • Drive integrated platform roadmap that enables product teams to launch new enterprise-grade capabilities rapidly and reliably
  • Partner with product teams across Docker to understand their business plans and launch requirements, translating needs into platform capabilities
  • Define and execute the long-term product strategy for Docker's platform systems including Billing, Identity & Accounts, Data, and Infrastructure
  • Build deep relationships with product leaders across Docker to understand product strategies and identify platform enablement opportunities
  • Influence product roadmaps by articulating platform constraints, opportunities, and trade-offs that impact product development
  • Engage with business stakeholders across Engineering, Marketing, and Sales to understand platform requirements and measure business impact
  • Drive cross-functional alignment on platform priorities by balancing competing product team needs with platform sustainability
  • Own platform strategy across multiple domains including billing systems, identity and access management, entitlements, data platforms, and core infrastructure
  • Establish platform capabilities and APIs that enable product teams to build on shared services efficiently
  • Drive platform initiatives that reduce friction for product teams while maintaining security, compliance, and operational excellence
  • Define platform abstractions and service models that balance flexibility for product innovation with consistency across the Docker ecosystem
  • Serve as subject matter expert and strategic advisor to product teams across Docker on platform capabilities and best practices
  • Conduct deep discovery with product teams to understand roadmaps, launch plans, and platform dependencies for new features and products
  • Translate product team requirements into platform capabilities, balancing individual product needs with scalable platform architecture
  • Provide thought leadership on platform-dependent product development including billing integration, identity models, data requirements, and infrastructure needs

Requirements:

  • 8+ years of product management experience with 3+ years at Staff level or above
  • Proven track record building and scaling platform products that enable other product teams at high-growth technology companies
  • Experience working across multi-domain platform strategy across areas like billing, identity, infrastructure, or data systems
  • Ability to become a subject matter expert quickly across technical domains and serve as trusted advisor to product teams
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills with proven ability to influence without authority across product organizations
  • Strategic thinking with ability to balance long-term platform vision with near-term product team needs and business objectives
  • Deep understanding of platform product management including shared services, internal platforms, and enabling systems for product development
  • Experience with enterprise platform systems such as billing platforms, identity and access management (IAM), entitlements, or multi-tenancy architectures
  • Strong technical acumen with ability to engage in architectural discussions and evaluate technical trade-offs for platform decisions
  • Knowledge of SaaS platform patterns including API design, service-oriented architecture, event-driven systems, and platform observability
