Job Description

Fraud remains one of the hardest problems in financial services—and one of the biggest opportunities for Plaid. Our Fraud team is building the trusted identity backbone for the financial ecosystem, helping customers onboard good users with confidence while keeping bad actors out. As the Product Manager for Identity Verification (IDV) and Monitor (AML), you’ll own the foundation of Plaid’s fraud platform. IDV enables fast, accurate identity verification at onboarding, while Monitor provides continuous AML screening and transaction monitoring. Together, they power Protect and Layer–Plaid’s next-generation fraud products. The result is a unified platform that brings KYC, AML, and fraud prevention together at scale. In this role, you will take end-to-end ownership of IDV and Monitor–setting direction, driving execution, and aligning teams around measurable outcomes. You’ll blend technical, data and design perspectives to move from concept to production quickly and deliver systems that are accurate, reliable and built for scale. You’ll partner directly with Plaid’s fraud founders and an experienced engineering team to raise the standard for fraud prevention.

Job Responsibility

  • Set the direction. Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for IDV and Monitor end to end. Drive meaningful outcomes for fraud prevention, compliance, and customer experience
  • Build the backbone. Grow IDV and Monitor as the core of Protect and Layer by expanding data coverage, improving decision quality, and enhancing reliability, latency, and transparency across systems
  • Execute with focus. Partner closely with engineering, design, and other Fraud teams to move from concept to production with clear launch criteria and consistent follow-through
  • Communicate with precision. Create clarity across teams by articulating decisions, tradeoffs and rationale crisply. translating complex systems into simple narratives and keeping partners aligned on what matters
  • Stay close to the field. Engage with customers and GTM teams to spot fraud and compliance patterns early, translate them into product improvements, and maintain momentum through demos, integrations, and launches

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product management experience in fraud, risk, security, or identity
  • Strong technical foundation with a degree in Computer Science or a related field preferred
  • Experience building or integrating fraud detection, risk scoring, or IDV/AML systems
  • Ability to write clear product requirements and communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Comfortable working closely with engineering, data, and go-to-market teams to deliver measurable impact

Nice to have

  • Experience with data science or ML-driven systems, including model inputs and outputs
  • Entrepreneurial or founder experience with a bias toward ownership and experimentation

  • Lead the phased rollout strategy for the card product, defining success metrics at each stage and partnering with Marketing to expand access to increasing groups of customers in a deliberate and operationally sound way
  • Collaborate with product teams across GoodLeap — including Payments, B2B, Homeowner, Servicing, and Platform — to align on shared systems and surfaces needed to deliver on the card roadmap and support scaled rollout
  • Serve as the primary product owner bridging strategy and execution: documenting requirements, aligning on acceptance criteria, and working hand-in-hand with engineering through delivery of each roadmap increment
  • Manage relationships with the card product’s external vendor ecosystem — spanning multiple third-party partners across card issuing, underwriting, fraud, and servicing — and ensure vendor roadmaps align with product needs
  • Define and monitor key performance indicators in partnership with Data Analytics and use metrics to inform roadmap decisions and flag issues early
  • Engage directly with customers and partners in partnership with Business Development and customer-facing teams to gather qualitative feedback, and establish a continuous learning loop that drives rapid product improvement after launch
