Job Description:

The Staff Pharmacist at CVS Health plays a critical role in cultivating a culture of excellence within the pharmacy. Responsibilities include managing and improving patient health through safe dispensing, overseeing pharmacy operations as a proxy for the Pharmacy Manager, coaching team members, ensuring compliance with regulations, contributing to positive patient experiences, and maintaining clinical skills. The position requires an active Pharmacist license, strong communication and mathematical skills, and the ability to work in a physically mobile role with occasional lifting. Candidates with 1-2 years of related experience are preferred.

Job Responsibility:

  • Helping to manage and improve patient health through safe and appropriate dispensing, counseling, and immunizing practices
  • Taking direction from the Pharmacy Manager and overseeing the pharmacy as their proxy during bench shifts
  • Strengthening pharmacy performance measures through coaching and consistent follow-up
  • Supporting safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures
  • Contributing to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care
  • Proactively offering and delivering immunizations
  • Supporting the effective management of pharmacy inventory
  • Partnering with the Pharmacy Manager to ensure pharmacy operations comply with regulations
  • Remaining flexible for scheduling and business needs
  • Maintaining clinical and technical skills through required training and CMEs
  • Supporting access to care through clinical care such as testing and prescribing services.

Requirements:

  • Active Pharmacist License in the state where the Store is located
  • Active National Provider Identifier (NPI)
  • Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list
  • Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends
  • Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe
  • Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time
  • Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another
  • Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy
  • Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner
  • Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately
  • Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues
  • Utilize active listening
  • Ability to use math to solve a problem
  • Identifying challenging patient or colleague interactions
  • Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods of time
  • Lift, scan, and bag items
  • Reach overhead
  • Move fingers repetitively
  • Extend hand(s) and arm(s) multiple directions
  • Stoop to a considerable degree
  • Close visual acuity
  • Frequently lift up to 10 lbs
  • Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs.

Nice to have:

  • 1-2 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting
  • Ability to work in other locations across the market as business needs require.
