The role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of nursing practice. As a key member of the frontline team, the general registered nurse will demonstrate strong clinical skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital and centre. The position requires a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the implementation of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.
Job Responsibility:
Practice Nursing according to the Code of Professional Conduct
Work within their scope of practice
Support the Clinical Nurse Specialists in the development of the Gynaecology, Urology and Breast Health units
Offer advice and support to patients and their families
Ensure all patients attending the Women’s Health Centre are fully aware of what to expect
Work in collaboration with the consultants to develop care pathways
Maintain a high standard of professional behaviour
Be aware of ethical policies and procedures
Respect and maintain the privacy, dignity and confidentiality of the patient
Follow appropriate lines of authority
Deliver the nursing care of an assigned group of patients
Manage a designated caseload
Promote the health, welfare, and social wellbeing of patients
Actively participate as a multi-disciplinary team member
Assess, plan, implement and evaluate individual person-centred care programmes
Develop and promote good interpersonal relationships
Ensure that care is carried out in an empathetic and ethical manner
Promote and recognise the patients’ social and cultural dimensions of care
Collaborate and work closely with the patient, their family, and the multi-disciplinary team

Ensure that the care setting is maintained in good order

Requirements:
Be registered in the general division of the Register of Nurses maintained by NMBI
Have at least two years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting, with one year in a surgical setting
Hold an up-to-date Basic Life Support course
Sufficient clinical knowledge, clinical reasoning skills and evidence-based practice
The ability to plan and organise effectively
The ability to build and maintain relationships including the ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
Effective analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Excellent communication skills
Evidence of ability to empathise with and treat patients, relatives and colleagues with dignity and respect
A commitment to continuing professional development
It is essential that you have valid work permission for the Republic of Ireland to take up employment for this position, or in the case of critical skills, you must be eligible for a work permit.
Nice to have:
Experience in Theatre, Urology, Gynaecology or Endoscopy is desirable.
