The role is responsible for the provision of quality service in line with standards of Emergency Department nursing practice. As a key member of the frontline team, the Staff Nurse in the Emergency Department will demonstrate strong clinical skills and facilitate effective communication with colleagues in the hospital. The position requires a collaborative and supportive approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the implementation of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives. You must practice within the Codes of Practice, Rules and Guidelines set out by the Nursing and Midwifery board of Ireland (NMBI) and comply with the policies and procedures of Blackrock Clinic. Personally and professionally, you are accountable to the patient. You are personally accountable for your own actions at all times.
Job Responsibility:
Assessment, Planning, Implementation and Evaluation of patient care
Documenting nursing admission assessment thoroughly and accurately
Developing and documenting care plans based on patient needs and best practice
Collaborating with other health care team members
Providing safe, comprehensive nursing based on current standards and research
Maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors and colleagues
Functioning effectively in an emergency situation
Participating in quality assurance and audit
Ensuring compliance with Infection Prevention and Control policies
Maintaining appropriate nursing and midwifery records
Taking responsibility for own competency and learning
Working closely with colleagues across the hospital
Communicating appropriately with patients, families, and colleagues
Setting annual goals and objectives
Participating in education of learners and orientation of new personnel
Complying with all relevant policies and procedures.
Requirements:
Registered in the general division of NMBI
Evidence of personal professional development
Ongoing skills training – relevant to care required for patient case load
Have at least three years recent relevant post-registration nursing experience (full-time or equivalent hours part-time) in an acute hospital setting with at least one years’ Emergency Department nursing experience.
