Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a caring, compassionate and enthusiastic qualified Band 5 Staff Nurse (Registered Mental Health and Learning Disability Nurses) to work within the Neuro psychiatry inpatient service on Ward 2, Walkergate Park. The regional service supports individuals who have neurological disorders for example: Huntington's disease, Parkinson's disease, MS, TBI and require specialist neuro psychiatry input. Presenting with a range of physical, cognitive, communication and emotional problems as well as challenging behaviours. We aim to provide a secure, and low stimulus environment that is suitable for people who require a full assessment of their needs including nursing, medical, psychology, OT, physio, SALT and dietetics.

Job Responsibility:

  • Act as a Primary/Named Nurse within a multi-disciplinary team, developing collaborative, and needs based care plans, through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
  • Provide excellent professional, skilled and effective person centred, evidence based nursing care
  • Actively involved in the health and wellbeing of staff and service users
  • Visible and accessible to patients, families and carers working together to ensure efficient, effective and caring services
  • Contribute to achieving all performance indicators, essential standards and quality outcomes
  • Contribute to the education and development of the workforce and students
  • Contribute to staff appraisals and support personal development plans
  • Safely administer medication following Trust policies and practice guidelines
  • Provide compassionate care that is based on empathy, kindness, respect and dignity
