Job Description:

Nazareth House Killorglin is looking for a kind and caring Staff Nurse to join the team to enhance and support the excellent quality of daily life for residents. An excellent opportunity to develop or enhance skills within a supportive environment whilst working with an experienced team of Healthcare Professionals in a diverse, multicultural environment.

Job Responsibility:

Ensure that all Staff Members contribute to the efficient running of the Unit
Report any ill health among residents and make requests for GP/Professional visits
Ensure each resident has individualised Care Plans that are completed and maintained
Actively promote and encourage opportunities for independence
Assess all aspects of residents’ care needs
Regular checks on residents at intervals
Administer prescribed medication
Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents’ personal and financial affairs
Participate in Staff and Resident meetings
Establish and maintain good communication
Ensure that effective safety procedures are managed
Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter detrimental to care
Assist in observing and ensuring implementation of policies
Ensure completion of incident/near miss forms
Adhere to department policies
Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members
Maintain and improve professional knowledge
Attend mandatory training
Report illnesses or accidents
Understand and ensure implementation of Health and Safety policy
Report faulty appliances or hazards
Adhere to HSE/HIQA guidelines
Maintain all log books and records
Ensure confidential information is not divulged
Assist in fundraising arrangements
Notify Director of Nursing of inability to report for duty
Ensure security is maintained
Ensure equipment is clean
Carry out any other tasks assigned

Requirements:

Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais or be entitled to be so registered
Have at least 1 year of post-registration experience preferably in the area of care for older persons
Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
Satisfactory Garda Vetting
