Job Description:

Nazareth House Killorglin is looking for a kind and caring Staff Nurse to join the team to enhance and support the excellent quality of daily life for residents. An excellent opportunity to develop or enhance skills within a supportive environment whilst working with an experienced team of Healthcare Professionals in a diverse, multicultural environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure that all Staff Members contribute to the efficient running of the Unit
  • Report any ill health among residents and make requests for GP/Professional visits
  • Ensure each resident has individualised Care Plans that are completed and maintained
  • Actively promote and encourage opportunities for independence
  • Assess all aspects of residents’ care needs
  • Regular checks on residents at intervals
  • Administer prescribed medication
  • Practice maximum integrity in all dealings with Residents’ personal and financial affairs
  • Participate in Staff and Resident meetings
  • Establish and maintain good communication
  • Ensure that effective safety procedures are managed
  • Observe, report and take appropriate action on any matter detrimental to care
  • Assist in observing and ensuring implementation of policies
  • Ensure completion of incident/near miss forms
  • Adhere to department policies
  • Supervise and instruct junior and new staff members
  • Maintain and improve professional knowledge
  • Attend mandatory training
  • Report illnesses or accidents
  • Understand and ensure implementation of Health and Safety policy
  • Report faulty appliances or hazards
  • Adhere to HSE/HIQA guidelines
  • Maintain all log books and records
  • Ensure confidential information is not divulged
  • Assist in fundraising arrangements
  • Notify Director of Nursing of inability to report for duty
  • Ensure security is maintained
  • Ensure equipment is clean
  • Carry out any other tasks assigned

Requirements:

  • Be registered in the General Division of the Register of Nurses kept by An Bord Altranais or be entitled to be so registered
  • Have at least 1 year of post-registration experience preferably in the area of care for older persons
  • Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development at the appropriate level
  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • Genuine interest in working with the relevant client group
  • Satisfactory Garda Vetting
