Job Description:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Haematology & Oncology Daycare team. This busy ambulatory care unit provides therapies including chemotherapy, apheresis, and triage for children and young people under the Principal Treatment Centre. You'll also gain experience in caring for patients undergoing stem cell transplantation and those with non-malignant haematology conditions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Deliver skilled nursing care independently, in line with the NMC Code of Conduct
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate care for an allocated patient group, using prioritisation and delegation skills
  • Act as an advocate for patients and ensure high standards of care
  • Support the development of nursing practice, including supervising junior staff
  • Contribute to managing and developing the Unit
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide seamless, holistic care

Requirements:

  • Current registration with NMC
  • Enhanced clinical skills or willingness to develop in central venous access device care, intravenous medication administration, blood product administration
  • Professional, compassionate, and committed to personal and service development
  • Degree or Diploma Level Education as Registered Nurse (RN Child or RSCN)
  • Ability to demonstrate a commitment to professional development
  • Willingness to undertake Trust Band 5 competency pathway
  • Role of Staff Nurse
  • Accountability and Own limitations
  • Health & Safety Safe Practices e.g. Moving and Handling, Sharps, COSHH
  • Principles of Infection Control Principles of Safeguarding of children
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to respect the cultural, social and religious diversity within society
  • Able to use own initiative Good decision making skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Basic IT skills & use of Microsoft Word

Nice to have:

  • Teaching, mentoring and Assessors qualification
  • Willingness to undertake study to Degree level
  • Relevant Post Basic registration course
  • Post-registration experience in paediatric speciality
  • Mentorship experience

  • Experience in Nursing Speciality
