Job Description:

We're seeking an experienced and driven Product Design Engineering Manager to lead and mentor our mechanical design team. This hands-on role involves guiding the design of core products and specialized equipment, managing project priorities, and ensuring high-quality, timely execution.

Job Responsibility:

Lead a team of product design and CAE engineers
Guide CAE engineers on effective model setup, boundary conditions, and creative problem-solving for difficult CFD/FEA challenges
Prioritize and deliver mechanical engineering projects, managing timelines and resources effectively
Provide expert guidance on complex design challenges, ensuring products meet performance, manufacturability, and cost targets
Act as the liaison between the India team and HQ to align on requirements and resolve integration issues
Drive supplier relationships, ensuring optimal DFM and managing the procurement process

Requirements:

12+ years in mechanical or product design
2-3 years in a management or lead role
Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a team
Deep expertise in DFM, advanced tolerance stack analysis, and manufacturing processes for metals and plastics
Expert proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), engineering drawings, GD&T, and process capability
Strong ability to understand and navigate multi-faceted design tradeoffs, with proven system-level design experience
Familiarity with CFD and FEA (preferably Ansys and FloEFD)
Exceptional engineering fundamentals and a track record of solving highly complex technical challenges
Proactive, self-driven individual who can motivate colleagues and maintain focus on strategic objectives with minimal oversight

Nice to have:

Experience designing optomechanical test fixtures
Experience with statistical analysis software (JMP, Minitab, etc.)
Experience managing relationships with a contract manufacturer (CM)
Experience with projects in high-volume industries (e.g., consumer electronics, robotics, medical devices)
