Job Description

The Staff Manufacturing Process Engineer is responsible for setting standards of process evaluation, establishing the strategic direction of factory and process roadmaps, driving implementation of new technologies, and helping define the metrics of success for Manufacturing Engineering. They serve as a technical and developmental mentor for the production engineering teams. The Staff Manufacturing Process Engineer’s scope covers the end-to-end production process (material preparation, assembly, testing, and shipment preparation), the alignment of our global facilities, as well as the interaction of the factory with external departments.

Job Responsibility

  • Set strategic direction for process evolution
  • Advise on the design, implementation, and measurement of manufacturing processes
  • Prioritize process flexibility to accommodate rapid and diverse product turn-over
  • Establish standards for calculating key production metrics such as cycle time and yield ensuring consistency across business partners and satellite facilities
  • Monitor global factory performance targets, control limits, and excursions to provide trend analysis
  • Lead initiatives to implement process improvements
  • Identify global process bottlenecks and take action to alleviate
  • Root cause and resolve factory interruptions
  • Monitor global sites for trends and proactively expand solutions across plants
  • Work with factory leadership to establish documented standards for tools/equipment
  • Document, escalate, and resolve issues reported by factory team
  • Maintain and improve support management system (JIRA)
  • Work with NPI Engineers to ensure factory is ready for new products
  • Establish DFM and PFMEA best practices for design teams
  • Assess new technology, customer, and product requirements
  • Ensure factory is ready for changes
  • Provide technical expertise for Manufacturing Engineering on next generation of products
  • Identify opportunities for automation within current and future factory processes
  • Drive implementation of automation solutions by setting requirements and validating design directions
  • Establish methods and standards for programing/training of automated solutions
  • Prepare new products for automation
  • Mentor Engineering Team on best practices
  • Work with leadership on establishing internal metrics of success

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Minimum of Six Sigma Green Belt Certificate
  • Experience with factory simulation software, FlexSim preferred
  • Experience with assembly automation technologies
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards
  • Experience with and passion for Continuous Improvement, Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma methodologies
  • Capability to apply technical expertise in changeable and varied scenarios
  • Problem solving skills with an emphasis on collaboration and flexibility
  • Analytical skills, including the ability to mine data to draw meaningful conclusions
  • Familiarity with Data Analytics best practices and querying raw data sets
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to simplify complex issues for diverse audiences
  • Ability to consolidate information from numerous sources into a plan/direction for the organization
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Outlook, Excel, and Word)
