Job Description:

This position is responsible for providing senior technical leadership in the design, development, validation, and release of new products as well as the improvement of existing products. Staff Engineer operates with a high degree of autonomy, contributes to technical strategy, and influences product, technology, and process decisions across multiple development programs while working closely with cross-functional teams.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide technical leadership across multiple product development and cost-reduction initiatives, ensuring project goals, quality, and schedules are met
  • Lead the creation and review of product requirements and engineering specifications based on company, customer, and industry standards
  • Develop innovative designs for new components and assemblies
  • Create, review, and approve engineering documentation to support the release of new and modified products
  • Support and/or lead optical, mechanical, and environmental testing of fiber optic products
  • Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations
  • Write and review technical test reports
  • Review and approve product design and engineering change documentation
  • Maintain understanding of competitive products and IP position
  • Generate Records of Invention and support intellectual property protection
  • Drive technical improvements resulting in cost reduction, quality, or performance improvements
  • Contribute to CommScope's codified knowledge base and mentor other engineers

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Optical, Physics, or related discipline)
  • Minimum 5–8 years of relevant engineering experience
  • Strong technical competence in fiber optic products and testing
  • Strong communication skills in English, written and spoken
  • Proficiency with CREO or equivalent CAD tools preferred
  • Experience with LEAN, Six Sigma, DOE, FMEA, and MSA methodologies preferred
  • Perform advanced data analysis, evaluation, and interpretation to solve complex technical problems
  • Availability to national and international travels
