Job Description

The Staff Electrical Engineer serves as a senior technical authority responsible for system architecture, engineering governance, and complex power system decision-making across the organization’s power generation and microgrid portfolio. This role reports directly to the Director of Electrical Engineering and supports the execution of electrical engineering standards, system designs, and construction deliverables across power distribution, microgrid, and modular generation projects.

Job Responsibility

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for power systems, generator integration, and electrical controls
  • Define and approve electrical system architectures for modular and scalable power plants
  • Lead and approve complex construction drawing packages and engineering deliverables
  • Author, approve, and maintain corporate electrical standards, specifications, and design guidelines
  • Lead advanced power system studies and protection philosophies
  • Provide final technical authority for generator control and interconnection strategies
  • Interface with utilities, AHJs, third-party engineers, and owners’ engineers
  • Lead high-risk commissioning, troubleshooting, and failure investigations
  • Mentor Senior Electrical Engineers and guide technical development across teams
  • Support long-range technical planning and CAPEX strategy
  • Participate in executive-level safety and technical risk reviews
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10–15+ years of experience in power systems engineering, generation, or utility-scale electrical design
  • Demonstrated leadership in: Electrical system architecture
  • Generator control and integration
  • Construction documentation standards
  • Expert technical writing and documentation capability
  • Proven ability to resolve complex technical challenges

Nice to have

  • Expert-level experience with ETAP or SKM Power Tools
  • Extensive experience developing and enforcing electrical standards and specifications
  • Professional Engineering (PE) license in TX, NM, WY, or CO, or actively working toward licensure
  • Experience serving as Engineer of Record (EOR) or supporting stamped designs
  • Experience interfacing with utilities and regulatory authorities
