Job Description:

You will contribute to the development of a pricing guidance system for hosts, as well as methods (experimental and observational) to measure the impact of pricing feature launches. In addition, you will drive innovative pricing science through strategic initiatives, including early-stage and ambiguous 0-to-1 projects that require scientific rigor and creative business insight.

Job Responsibility:

  • Collaborating with product and cross-functional teams to pioneer pricing strategies and guidance for hosts, translating advanced modeling into actionable recommendations
  • Developing foundational models and experimental approaches that balance supply and demand in the marketplace, leveraging empirical methods to assess and iterate on pricing feature impact
  • Crafting compelling data narratives to surface actionable insights, empower data-driven decision making, and influence the future direction of Airbnb’s pricing ecosystem
  • Developing a deep understanding of how hosts think about pricing and navigate and re-engage with our app via analysis and research
  • Growing a strong relationship with cross-functional partners in Product, Engineering and Analytics
  • Writing software (Python, SQL, R) to model, simulate and measure the impact of new pricing features
  • Creatively diving into data to understand the differential effects of pricing feature launches and turning that understanding into clear insights
  • Communicating learnings and insights to leaders and partners in a simple and lucid way

Requirements:

  • Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Econometrics or related field
  • 9+ years of industry experience with Masters and 6+ years with a PhD
  • Experience with experimentation, causal observational analysis, and pricing systems/marketplaces
  • Strong coding skills in SQL and either Python or R
  • Comfort with developing proof-of-concept prototypes
  • Proven ability to succeed in both collaborative and independent work environments, autonomously set a roadmap for business impact
  • Strong in communication with XFN partners in product, engineering, and design to enable data-driven product development with a focus on the user experience
