Job Description

At Bumble, we’re building a world where healthy, equitable relationships and friendships can thrive — and language plays a powerful role in shaping how people feel, connect, and belong. As a Staff Content Designer within Product, you’ll operate at the intersection of words, systems, and human behavior, shaping product experiences that are clear, inclusive, and emotionally resonant for millions of people around the world. This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who leads through craft, influence, and vision. You’ll partner deeply with Product, Design, Research, Engineering, Trust & Safety, and Legal to solve complex problems with language, championing thoughtful content design that reflects Bumble’s values of Courage, Respect, and Curiosity. Along the way, you’ll help reimagine how content design scales at Bumble — including how we responsibly apply AI to enhance clarity, consistency, and care across the product.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead content design for complex, high-impact product initiatives, shaping end-to-end experiences from early concept through launch and iteration, with strong ownership and accountability for outcomes
  • Define and evolve scalable content systems, language patterns, and voice guidelines that ensure clarity, consistency, and accessibility across product surfaces
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Designers, Researchers, and Engineers to embed content strategy early, balancing user understanding, emotional tone, and business intent
  • Solve advanced content challenges including naming, taxonomy, information architecture, and system messaging, bringing structure and clarity to ambiguous problem spaces
  • Act as a strategic thought partner across Product, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Customer Experience, using language to build trust, safety, and confidence at scale
  • Champion inclusive, human-centered language that reflects the diversity of Bumble’s global community and demonstrates our value of Respect in action
  • Explore and apply AI-assisted tools and workflows to improve content quality, scalability, and personalization, modeling responsible and ethical use
  • Collaborate with purpose, take ownership of delivery, and adapt plans with an agile mindset as insights, priorities, and user needs evolve

Requirements

  • Typically requires 8–10 years of experience, though we welcome candidates with alternative backgrounds that demonstrate equivalent skills
  • Deep expertise in content design, UX writing, or language design for consumer-facing digital products, ideally in mobile-first environments
  • Strong craft foundation across content systems, voice and tone, accessibility standards, and inclusive design principles for global audiences
  • Proven ability to influence without authority, guiding cross-functional partners through clear thinking, strong rationale, and thoughtful communication
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, from defining long-term content direction to refining critical microcopy details
  • Demonstrates Curiosity and Excellence by continuously evolving craft, seeking feedback, and applying research and data to improve outcomes
  • Actively uses AI tools in day-to-day work — from ideation to iteration — and understands how to apply them thoughtfully while keeping people at the center
  • Works collaboratively, takes ownership of impact, and sees work through from insight to real-world results
