We are looking for a Staff Auditor - Public to join a public-sector audit team in Raleigh, North Carolina. Job Responsibility:
Carry out performance audits for state agencies, programs, and local government entities using applicable governmental auditing standards
Examine operational goals, workflows, and results to determine whether programs are achieving intended outcomes efficiently and effectively
Gather, organize, and evaluate both numerical and narrative information to support audit conclusions and measure program performance
Detect control weaknesses, operational risks, and areas where processes or resource allocation can be improved
Develop well-structured audit documentation and draft reports that clearly explain observations, conclusions, and recommended actions
Present audit results to leadership groups and other stakeholders in a concise and thorough manner
Work closely with internal colleagues and audited organizations to obtain information, clarify issues, and maintain productive working relationships
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration, Business, Finance, Economics, or a closely related field is required
Advanced academic credentials are welcomed but not mandatory
Familiarity with government auditing, internal audit practices, or state-level oversight environments is helpful, though prior audit experience is not required
Background in program assessment, performance measurement, research, or data analysis is considered a plus
Strong analytical thinking and sound judgment with the ability to investigate issues and draw supported conclusions
Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex findings clearly to varied audiences
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
