We are looking for a dedicated Staff Attorney to join our team in San Diego, California. In this long-term contract role, you will play a vital part in advocating for vulnerable individuals and supporting them through complex legal processes. This position offers a hybrid work environment, combining remote flexibility with some onsite responsibilities.
Job Responsibility:
Advocate for clients seeking restraining orders, ensuring their rights are protected and their cases are effectively presented
Provide legal guidance and support to survivors, including interpreting legal documents and accompanying them to court proceedings
Assist with administrative tasks and offer expertise in legal interpretations to streamline case handling
Train and mentor new team members to enhance their understanding of legal processes and client advocacy
Collaborate with nonprofit organizations to align legal services with social justice initiatives
Support grant-related activities and ensure compliance with nonprofit operational standards
Work closely with the Director of Legal Services to address client needs and operational goals
Adapt to an evolving hybrid work schedule that may include increased onsite presence for training or operational requirements
Maintain compliance with federal fingerprinting and clearance processes to ensure smooth onboarding
Requirements:
Licensed attorney in the state of California, with active membership in the CA bar
Recent law school graduate with a strong interest in social justice and public service
Experience or certification in domestic violence prevention, crisis intervention, or trauma-informed care is highly desirable
Previous experience in nonprofit or social services environments is strongly preferred
Familiarity with grant management and nonprofit operations is an asset
Ability to work effectively in a hybrid setting, balancing remote and onsite responsibilities
Strong advocacy skills and a commitment to supporting vulnerable populations
Excellent organizational and administrative abilities to manage legal documentation and casework
Nice to have:
Experience or certification in domestic violence prevention, crisis intervention, or trauma-informed care
Previous experience in nonprofit or social services environments
Familiarity with grant management and nonprofit operations
