We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent position in Dallas, Texas. In this role, you will oversee the financial reporting and accounting operations for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties. This position offers an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in property-level accounting and ensure accurate financial reporting for key stakeholders.
Job Responsibility:
Manage the general ledger for a portfolio of commercial real estate properties and entities
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties
Perform month-end closing activities, including creating journal entries, accruals, and reclassifications
Reconcile bank accounts, tenant receivables, and operating expense accounts to ensure accuracy
Record and maintain accurate data on rent, common area maintenance fees, and tenant reimbursements
Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts for the properties
Maintain fixed asset schedules and calculate depreciation for real estate assets
Ensure compliance with applicable real estate accounting standards and regulations
Collaborate with property management teams to address accounting-related inquiries and issues
Support audits and provide documentation as needed for financial reviews
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably within real estate or property management
Proficiency in accrual accounting and financial reporting practices
Hands-on experience with property management accounting systems such as Yardi, AppFolio, or similar platforms
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to work with complex spreadsheets
High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing multiple properties and competing deadlines
Understanding of corporate tax, sales tax, and related accounting principles
Effective organizational and communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
