Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our growing finance company. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month-end close activities, preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, and supporting financial reporting. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Job Responsibility

  • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and account adjustments
  • Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Monitor and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances
  • Support accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation records
  • Assist with audits by providing requested documentation and support
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
  • Perform additional accounting and finance-related duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 2+ years of accounting experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting principles
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • CPA or CPA-track candidates preferred

Nice to have

  • Financial services, banking, lending, investment, or insurance industry experience
  • Experience with financial reporting and general ledger accounting
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, or Microsoft Dynamics

  • Contribute to the month-end close by preparing entries, reviewing account activity, and confirming that transactions are recorded in a timely manner

  • Coordinate assigned department projects and help keep implementation efforts on track through effective planning, follow-up, and communication
