Job Description:

The Financial Times is seeking a diligent and analytical Staff Accountant to support general accounting operations and financial controls within a global media organization. This role plays a key part in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of financial records, supporting month-end close, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal policies. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in accounting principles, hands-on general ledger experience, and a continuous improvement attitude.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and post journal entries
  • analyze and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate and complete general ledger records
  • Support daily accounting operations and maintain full-cycle accounting activities for multiple legal entities
  • Reconcile and post payroll in Oracle Fusion
  • Support timely month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations, schedules, and analytical review of balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations for accounts across multiple legal entities
  • Participate in the review of balance sheet reconciliations across the organization to ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal control requirements
  • Review intercompany balances within the FT group and assist with intercompany settlements
  • Ensure accounting records are accurate, complete, and maintained in compliance with FT global accounting policies and internal control requirements
  • Find opportunities to improve and automate accounting processes to strengthen financial controls and operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with Global Finance and cross-functional teams on initiatives and ad-hoc projects as needed

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry
  • CPA designation preferred or actively pursuing CPA
  • Good understanding of accounting principles, with the ability to apply standards and internal policies to routine and moderately complex transactions
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, Power Query, complex formulas, automation via macros a plus)
  • Experience working with ERP systems
  • Oracle Fusion experience preferred
  • Ability to understand end-to-end business processes and assess their impact on the financial statements
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively in a team-oriented environment
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document and explain accounting issues
