Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract with the potential for a long-term position. Based in Fresno, California, this role involves a variety of accounting responsibilities, including managing financial records, preparing tax filings, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute your skills to a dynamic environment within the education sector.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and analyze corporate tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax regulations
  • Manage sales tax reporting and filing requirements in a timely manner
  • Record and reconcile journal entries to maintain accurate financial records
  • Oversee general ledger activities, ensuring all transactions are properly documented
  • Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking
  • Perform month-end and year-end close activities to support financial reporting deadlines
  • Prepare trial balances and assist in financial audits as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency
  • Ensure all financial records adhere to organizational policies and regulatory standards.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 year of experience in accounting or a related field
  • Proficiency in preparing corporate tax returns and managing sales tax filings
  • Strong understanding of journal entries, general ledger, and financial reporting processes
  • Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions
  • Familiarity with month-end and year-end close procedures
  • Ability to prepare trial balances and support year-end reporting activities
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
