This Contract to permanent position offers the opportunity to contribute to the organization's financial health by ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have experience in not-for-profit accounting and excel in tasks such as grant management, financial reporting, and audit preparation.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare and reconcile general ledger entries to maintain accurate financial records
Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements adhering to not-for-profit accounting standards
Monitor and classify revenue and expenses to ensure proper financial tracking
Manage grant-related financial tasks, including invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting in compliance with funder requirements
Assist with payroll processing and coordinate with Human Resources on payroll-related issues
Support the development and monitoring of organizational and departmental budgets
Conduct financial analyses, including variance and expenditure forecasts
Facilitate annual audits by preparing necessary documentation and implementing recommendations
Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring accuracy and timely transactions
Identify opportunities for process improvement and train staff on updated financial procedures and systems
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a not-for-profit setting
Strong knowledge of fund accounting principles and grant reporting requirements
Proficiency in accounting software such as AccuFund or Blackbaud, and advanced skills in Excel
Demonstrated ability to perform financial analysis and maintain attention to detail
Familiarity with government grants and donor management systems like Salesforce or Raiser’s Edge
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle confidential information responsibly
Knowledge of internal controls and compliance with financial regulations
