Job Description:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and accuracy-driven Staff Accountant to join a Software Company in San Francisco. This contract-to-permanent role offers the opportunity to manage essential accounting functions, including payroll, accounts payable, expense management, and financial reporting, while ensuring compliance and supporting international operations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage and maintain the general ledger, prepare and reconcile journal entries, and support month-end and year-end close processes
  • Ensure compliance for international operations in Canada and Mexico
  • Oversee and process payroll, including commissions and benefits reporting
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while serving as liaison between HR and Finance
  • Review, process, and approve vendor invoices and employee expense reports, maintaining internal controls and ensuring timely, accurate disbursements
  • Assist with audits, forecasting, and preparation of financial statements
  • Ensure adherence to US GAAP and regulatory requirements and recommend improvements to accounting policies and procedures
  • Respond to financial inquiries, research and interpret data, and provide clear explanations
  • Stay informed on tax laws and assist with tax filings and audits as needed

Requirements:

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • 3+ years of experience in core accounting functions, including general ledger management and payroll compliance
  • Proficiency with accounting and payroll systems (e.g., QuickBooks Online, ADP Workforce Now) and advanced Excel skills for reporting and analysis
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage sensitive information discreetly
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time management skills
