Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Santa Fe, New Mexico. This role involves managing accounts payable and receivable processes, performing month-end close tasks, and ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a knack for process improvement.

Job Responsibility:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, and weekly check runs
  • Maintain vendor records, acquire necessary tax forms, and issue tax-exemption certificates when applicable
  • Prepare reports to assist auditors with annual 1099 filings
  • Distribute monthly billing statements to residents and address questions regarding service fees or contracts
  • Manage corporate credit card accounts and reconcile monthly transactions
  • Perform month-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations for various accounts
  • Collaborate with the Controller to review budget variances, respond to audit queries, and prepare compliance reports
  • Create and maintain prepaid expense amortization schedules
  • Utilize advanced Excel features and Power Query for comprehensive financial analysis
  • Work with cross-functional teams to optimize accounting processes and implement best practices

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
  • At least 4+ years of accounting experience, with strong exposure to general ledger and month-end close procedures
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, vlookup, and other advanced functions
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact and resolve billing inquiries for residents
  • Familiarity with accounts payable and receivable processes
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to improving business processes
  • Experience with journal entries and financial reconciliations
