Job Description:

A growing real estate company is seeking a Staff Accountant in a long-term contract role. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and have a strong understanding of accounting principles as they apply to the real estate industry. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic and collaborative team while gaining valuable industry experience.

Job Responsibility:

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate postings of all financial transactions related to real estate holdings and operations
  • assist in month-end and year-end close processes, including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement adjustments
  • oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing, payment management, rent collections, and resolving disputes
  • prepare, analyze, and distribute monthly financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders
  • track and manage real estate assets, including calculations for depreciation and capital expenditures
  • partner with the finance team to assist with financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting for real estate projects and operations
  • ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations while assisting with audit preparation and documentation as needed
  • utilize ERP software to perform financial transactions, reporting, and record-keeping functions.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required
  • CPA or CMA certification is a plus
  • minimum of 2–3 years of accounting experience
  • real estate or property management industry experience strongly preferred
  • proficiency in ERP software (e.g., Yardi, MRI, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, formulas)
  • strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities
  • familiarity with real estate accounting principles, property accounting systems, and tax compliance within the industry.
