We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in New York, New York. In this long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in ensuring accurate financial recordkeeping and supporting the organization's accounting functions. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, proficiency with accounting systems, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of financial accuracy.
Job Responsibility:
Process and analyze general ledger transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards
Perform account analysis and reconciliations to resolve discrepancies and maintain accurate financial records
Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all entries are properly documented and aligned with financial policies
Reconcile bank accounts and statements to ensure all transactions are accounted for and discrepancies are addressed
Review accounts payable and receivable records for accuracy and completeness, ensuring timely processing of payments
Input and manage financial data, including accounts and transactions, with precision and attention to detail
Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks or Lawson to manage large datasets and perform financial tasks
Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and income statements to support accurate financial reporting
Collaborate with team members to ensure adherence to accounting procedures and organizational goals
Assist with other accounting-related tasks as needed to support the department's operations
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting or a related field
Proficiency in general ledger management and journal entry preparation
Strong skills in bank and balance sheet reconciliations
Experience with income statement preparation and financial analysis
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including handling large datasets
Familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks and Lawson is highly preferred
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Excellent organizational and communication skills
