Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a non-profit organization in Flushing, New York. This is a long-term contract position ideal for someone with strong expertise in corporate tax, sales tax, and financial reporting. The role offers an opportunity to contribute to the organization’s financial integrity while managing critical accounting functions.

Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and file corporate and sales tax returns in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger to ensure accurate financial records
  • Create and post journal entries to support the organization’s financial operations
  • Analyze financial data to assist in tax preparation and reporting
  • Work closely with team members to ensure timely and accurate accounting processes
  • Monitor and address discrepancies in financial statements
  • Provide support during audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to manage financial documentation and reporting
  • Implement improvements to streamline accounting procedures and enhance efficiency

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in corporate tax preparation and filing
  • Solid understanding of sales tax regulations and compliance
  • Proficiency in managing journal entries and general ledger accounts
  • Familiarity with corporate tax returns and financial reporting
  • Strong analytical skills to interpret and work with financial data
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
