We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in St. Petersburg, Florida. This Contract to permanent position offers an excellent opportunity to leverage your accounting expertise while contributing to essential financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles and a proactive approach to managing tasks such as financial reporting, reconciliations, and operational accounting.
Job Responsibility:
Prepare accurate financial statements and oversee assigned tasks during the month-end close process
Conduct balance sheet reconciliations and create journal entries to ensure data integrity
Perform variance analysis and present findings to the Controller for review
Ensure operational systems are aligned with the general ledger to maintain consistency
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) and contribute to internal control documentation
Compile cash flow reports and other management-related financial data as required
Assist in fulfilling audit and tax-related data requests with precision
Provide support for accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) functions when necessary
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred but not mandatory
Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience, showcasing a solid grasp of core principles
Proficiency in month-end close processes and understanding of financial systems
Skilled in performing balance sheet reconciliations and preparing journal entries
Familiarity with accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) processes
Advanced Excel capabilities to handle complex data efficiently
Experience with accounting software such as Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics, or Great Plains is a plus
Strong ability to work independently and communicate effectively with team members
