Job Description:

We are looking for a dedicated Staff Accountant to join our team in Downey, California. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a key role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting accurate reporting. Job Responsibility:

  • Prepare and analyze financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Conduct general ledger maintenance, including reconciliations and journal entries
  • Review and verify financial records and transactions to maintain compliance with regulations
  • Assist in budgeting processes, including preparation, tracking, and reporting
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local accounting regulations
  • Provide documentation and support during audits to facilitate smooth processes
  • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies and improve financial accuracy
  • Utilize accounting systems and Excel to achieve efficient and effective financial management
  • Monitor compliance with public sector financial practices and reporting requirements

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting with at least 24 semester units in Accounting
  • Proven experience in government agencies or K-12 educational environments, such as school districts or county offices of education
  • Strong background in general accounting functions, financial reporting, and reconciliations
  • Knowledge of governmental accounting practices and public sector budgeting systems
  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance and reporting standards
  • Proficiency in Excel and accounting software tools
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication abilities to interact effectively with stakeholders
