The Staff Accountant will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a multi-unit restaurant group. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, with a strong focus on payroll, tip management, inventory, and month-end close processes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
Job Responsibility:
Process and review payroll for multiple restaurant locations, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and applicable regulations
Manage and reconcile tip distribution ("tip bundles"), ensuring proper allocation and reporting
Partner with operations and HR to resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries
Support and execute the monthly close process, including preparation of journal entries and supporting schedules
Ensure all deadlines are met and financials are accurate and complete
Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations, identifying and resolving variances in a timely manner
Record and monitor accruals, ensuring expenses are recognized in the appropriate period
Analyze financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, and areas for improvement
Perform inventory reconciliations across multiple locations
Partner closely with restaurant management to investigate variances, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions
Work closely with restaurant management teams to ensure accurate reporting and operational alignment
Assist with process improvements and system implementations related to accounting and payroll
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1–3 years of accounting experience (hospitality or restaurant industry preferred)
Experience with payroll processing and multi-location environments is a plus
Strong understanding of GAAP and basic accounting principles
Proficiency in Excel and accounting systems (R365, Toast)
High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Nice to have:
Hospitality or restaurant industry experience
Experience with payroll processing and multi-location environments
