We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team at a non-profit organization in Los Angeles, California. In this Contract to permanent position, you will play a pivotal role in managing financial operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting mission-driven initiatives. Job Responsibility:
Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledger entries and monthly account reconciliations
Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions with accuracy and efficiency
Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with non-profit financial regulations
Assist in the creation of annual budgets and periodic financial forecasts
Compile and analyze financial statements for internal and external reporting purposes
Support audit preparations by gathering relevant schedules and documentation
Collaborate with program managers to oversee and track restricted funds, grants, and donations
Maintain accurate records of contributions and assist in donor reporting efforts
Provide assistance with payroll processing and benefits administration when required
Identify areas for financial process improvement and contribute to the implementation of best practices
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
1–3 years of detail-oriented accounting experience
experience in non-profit accounting is a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Oracle, or NetSuite
Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Effective time management and organizational abilities to handle multiple tasks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to liaise with teams and stakeholders
Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations
Knowledge of corporate tax principles and journal entry processes
Nice to have:
experience in non-profit accounting is a plus
