We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join a growing organization in Seattle, Washington. This position plays an important role in day-to-day accounting operations, helping maintain accurate financial records, support reporting activities, and contribute to smooth business operations. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience across core accounting functions, strong Excel capabilities, and the ability to work effectively with both finance and cross-functional teams.
Job Responsibility
Manage the full accounts payable cycle by recording vendor invoices, preparing disbursements, and reconciling company credit card activity for accuracy and completeness
Oversee end-to-end accounts receivable tasks, including applying incoming payments, maintaining customer account records, and following up on outstanding balances when needed
Process payroll on a bi-weekly schedule and record related journal entries to ensure payroll activity is accurately reflected in the general ledger
Contribute to the month-end close by reviewing transaction postings, analyzing general ledger activity, and reconciling assigned accounts in a timely manner
Prepare support for recurring state tax filings and assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting obligations
Evaluate existing accounting procedures and recommend more efficient approaches to strengthen reporting accuracy and workflow effectiveness
Maintain and update complex Excel files that support internal analysis as well as external financial reporting needs
Provide administrative support tied to employee matters, including benefits coordination and maintenance of personnel records
Participate in additional projects and operational assignments that support departmental priorities and broader business objectives
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or comparable accounting experience
At least 3 years of practical experience in an accounting role with exposure to multiple transactional functions
Working knowledge of payroll processing and payroll tax requirements
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including experience with pivot tables, lookup formulas, structured tables, and nested formulas
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including SharePoint and Teams
Experience using QuickBooks Online in a business environment
Solid understanding of general ledger activity, journal entries, and month-end close procedures
Familiarity with tax-related accounting responsibilities, including state and sales tax support
