Job Description:

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team on a contract basis in Baltimore, Maryland. In this role, you will play a key part in managing financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity for career growth.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage assigned areas of the general ledger, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and adjustments
  • Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts, investigate discrepancies, and implement solutions to resolve them
  • Prepare internal financial reports, dashboards, and variance analyses to support management decision-making
  • Analyze financial trends and provide insights into budget-to-actual and period-over-period variances
  • Support operational accounting tasks such as revenue recognition, cost accounting, and fixed asset management as needed
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with tax filings, regulatory requirements, and internal controls
  • Contribute to improving accounting processes, systems, and documentation to enhance efficiency and accuracy
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including payroll, accounts receivable, and accounts payable, to ensure financial data integrity
  • Provide guidance and informal mentorship to entry level staff to support their development

Requirements:

  • Strong knowledge of general ledger management, journal entries, and financial reporting processes
  • Proficiency in corporate and sales tax preparation, including corporate tax returns
  • Experience with accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes
  • Ability to analyze financial data and provide clear explanations for variances and trends
  • Familiarity with accounting standards and compliance requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
