Job Description:

The Staff Accountant leads accounting functions for profit center(s) and ensures the accounting functions are performed in accordance with BBAG (Brown & Brown Accounting Guidelines) or otherwise GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).

Job Responsibility:

  • Leads accounting functions for profit center(s) and ensures the accounting functions are performed in accordance with BBAG (Brown & Brown Accounting Guidelines) or otherwise GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Prepares journal entries, reviews general ledger and related financial statements for reasonableness within set deadlines
  • Accumulates and analyzes information for the preparation of financial statements, ledgers, and reports on a monthly basis within set deadlines
  • Prepares and/or reviews monthly bank reconciliations for bank accounts and addresses reconciling items in a timely manner
  • Prepares month-end reports and reconciliations
  • Prepares monthly accrual journal entries for expenses
  • Reviews and analyzes general ledger account balances
  • Answers inquiries from internal and external customers
  • Verifies accuracy of accounting data, and makes recommendations for corrections

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 1+ years’ experience in an accounting or financial role
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite Products (Outlook, Excel, Word)
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Good analytical abilities
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
